Awards and Programs
Oregon Spirit Book Award (OSBA)
Established in 2005, the Oregon Spirit Book Award is given yearly to the author of a distinguished contribution to children’s literature or young adult literature that engages and encourages readers’ imagination, discovery, and understanding, reflecting the spirit and values held by Oregonians.
Teacher Grant Opportunity
OCTE offers grants (annually) to assist teachers in the classroom. Grants of $150 - $300 are available to develop curriculum, purchase materials, or for other uses that enhance instruction in language arts/literacy.
Teacher Excellence Awards
To recognize excellence in teaching, the Oregon Council of Teachers of English (OCTE) invites any Oregon school to nominate one outstanding English language arts educator for one of these prestigious annual awards. A strong equal opportunity organization, we welcome nominations from anyone at any level of education—elementary, middle, secondary, two-year college, four-year college or university—but nominations must be limited to one per school.
